A Salute and thanx

Yesterday we had a parade here in the City of San Juan, and I think it's one of the ones that will forever stay in my mind. We took the five man color guard just to give other plp a chance to participate in the color guard too. Before the parade started, my team and i were getting ready and we were putting on all the equipment and stuff. While we were doing this, the police officers walked towards us and thanked us for helping them out with their presentation, and they joked around with us for a while and stuff which was really nice. After that the parade started. For the past three years that i have done color guard, ive had the honor to hold our Nations Flag. I have never really paid attention to anybody before because I always look straighforward or the flag is always in my face, so I just never thought of staring at who was on the street looking at the passing parade. Well yesterday i decided to pay attention. I saw one of the nicest things that I have ever seen. I saw so many senior citizens stand up, remove their hats or caps, and salute to the U.S. Flag before we even passed them. There were even little kids who would stand up and put their hand over their heart, every which way that i turned it was the same thing. I told my friends that were with me in the color guard, and they had these huge smiles on their faces and everytime they saw this, they would tell each other in a low voice "mira para tu left, o mira para tu right!" I guess my instructors also saw this and they had these huge smiles on their faces too.
